MIME WORKSHOP
with Myron Johnson
Step into the expressive world of physical storytelling in this immersive mime workshop led by renowned choreographer and theater-maker Myron Johnson.
Rooted in classical mime technique and expanded through contemporary performance practice, this workshop invites participants to explore how the body alone can create entire worlds.
The session begins with foundational exercises—walls, ropes, ladders, and resistance work—designed to build precision, control, and the illusion of physical space. Participants then develop the ability to craft invisible environments, transforming empty space into vivid, shared reality.
Using neutral masks, the workshop shifts into a deeper investigation of presence and physical expression. With the face removed from the equation, participants explore emotion, sensation, and storytelling through pure movement.
The workshop culminates in a guided creative lab where participants devise a short mime theater piece, applying the tools developed throughout the session in a collaborative, performance-driven process.
